I’ve had lots of jobs. I’ve been an attorney (my parents still don’t understand practicing law is nothing like Law & Order). Traveled the world working for the British Embassy (my husband and I still plan on moving to the Scottish Highlands one day). Observed brain surgery while managing a photo shoot in the operating room (not for the faint of heart…or stomach). And worked on national television commercials (two words: craft service—who knew homemade tortilla chips and guac, parfaits, and truffles were union-required!).

But it wasn’t until I took on the hardest job of all—motherhood—that I was really challenged. Not only challenged with what to do with a tiny little baby…and then a spirited toddler…and then two kids…but also challenged with how to balance work and family, life and leisure.  In short, how to calm the crazy.

I have two girls under five. My husband, Josh, stays at home with them. He is an amazingly patient man and fantastic dad. And, as a stay-at-home dad, I am in constant awe of him. You see, our girls are fiercely independent, active, bright, and full of life. With their seemingly endless energy, our house is at all times…well, crazy!

And they have been the inspiration for me starting this business.

Because, it is my belief at Calm the Crazy that life with kids can be made easier. More ease means more fun. And that's what I want for my family and yours...to have more fun! I also believe that your life - your style, your attitude, who you are - shouldn't stop simply because you have kids. That’s why I have created products that are easy, smart, stylish and durable for moms (and dads!) by moms.

I'm very excited to roll out the first product: the Kikou. When my boss pulled me aside for the fifth time to "jokingly" tell me that I had "something" (a.k.a. spit-up, snot) on my shoulder, I knew I needed to get a handle on my chaotic morning routine. Changing my clothes multiple times was a hassle and refusing to hold my girls once I was dressed was emotionally painful. As I looked for something that could help me, I realized that there was nothing out there that was cute but also saved my clothes from excessive wear and tear. And so the Kikou was born--a stylish, machine-washable wrap that protects your clothing, your modesty (it can also be used as a nursing cover), and your rep...and ultimately calms the crazy of your morning routine (or any time of day!).

Tell me what you think. We’ve got all kinds of ideas in the pipeline, and moms like you, all over the country, have contributed ideas to Calm the Crazy.
